Design×Creative Seminar – From WOOD DESIGN to Social Formation

 

本セミナーでは、「WOOD DESIGNから社会造形へ」というテーマのもと、武蔵野美術大学の若杉浩一氏と日本総合研究所創発戦略センター（日本総研）の井上岳一氏にご登壇いただきます。若杉氏はプロダクト、インテリア、建築など多岐にわたるデザイン分野で活躍する一方、大学ではソーシャルデザインを研究しています。井上氏は、人口減少時代を楽しく逞しく生き抜く地域社会のデザインをテーマに研究・実践活動を行っています。

 

お二人は、MAUと日本総研が開設した共同研究拠点「自律協生スタジオ（コンヴィヴィ）」において、「自律協生」をテーマに、経済や産業の世界に閉じていたデザインを、より広く社会一般の価値創造に転用する方法について研究・実践しています。本セミナーでは、産地が陥りがちな罠から抜けだし、市民と共に進化する開かれた産地をつくるためのデザインの方法について考えてゆきます。

 

In this seminar, Mr. Koichi Wakasugi from Musashino Art University (MAU) and Mr. Takekazu Inoue from the Center for the Strategy of Emergence at the Japan Research Institute (JRI) will speak on the theme, ‘From WOOD DESIGN to Social Formation’. In addition to being actively engaged in various design fields such as product design, interior design, and architecture, Mr. Wakasugi also conducts research on social design at MAU. Mr. Inoue focuses on research and implementation based on the theme of designing regional communities that can live joyfully and stay robust in an era of population decline.

 

At the Convivial Design Studio (Convivi), a collaborative research center established by MAU and JRI, both Mr. Wakasugi and Mr. Inoue are researching and implementing methods to broaden the application of design which has been confined to the world of economics and industry, to create value in society as a whole. In this seminar, we will discuss design methods to help production centers break free of common pitfalls and create open-minded production regions that evolve together with their citizens.

1959年生まれ。熊本県天草市出身。1984年、九州芸術工科大学芸術工学部卒。プロダクトデザイナー。株式会社内田洋行入社。一方で、デザインの社会的の意義を求め、2002年、「日本全国スギダラケ倶楽部」を設立。2019年4月、武蔵野美術造形構想学部 クリエーティブイノベーション学科の教授として着任。

Mr. Wakasugi is a product designer who was born in 1959 in Amakusa City, Kumamoto Prefecture. He graduated from the Faculty of Design at Kyushu Institute of Design in 1984. Upon graduation, joined Uchida Yoko Co., Ltd.. He also established the All Japan Sugidareke Club in 2002 in order to explore the social significance of design,. In April 2019, he was appointed Professor at MAU’s Institute of Innovation.

1969年神奈川県藤沢市生まれ。林野庁、Cassina IXCを経て2003年から日本総合研究所。山水の恵みと人の知恵・技術を生かした多様で持続可能な地域社会をつくることをミッションに研究・実践活動に従事。著書に『日本列島回復論 この国で生き続けるために』（新朝選書）等。

Born in 1969 in Fujisawa City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Mr. Inoue joined the Japan Research Institute in 2003 after working for the Forestry Agency and Cassina IXC. He has engaged in research and implementation with the mission of creating a diverse and sustainable regional community that thrives on the blessings of nature and human wisdom and technology. His publications include Nihon Rettou Kaifukuron: Kono Kuni de Ikitsuzukeru Tameni [Theory of Recovery for the Japanese Archipelago: To Continue Living in This Country] (Shincho Sensho).
